If you want to operate a roller shutter remotely, but your motor is operated with a switch, you can use the Izymo IO shutter receiver.
You can also remove the switch and only operate it via a remote control or app (via the Tahoma Switch).
This is what we assume in this installation step-by-step plan: You want to use your shutter via an app or a remote control and you no longer need the switch.
Here are the installation instructions to connect your wired roller shutter motor to the Somfy Izymo IO shutter module.
But, If you prefer, you can watch the video as well:
First, a few tips:
- Welding clamps makes it easy to connect the wires
- Make sure that nothing is live so you can work safely
The steps:
- Connect the black wire from L1 on the Izymo to the black wire from the motor
- Connect the brown wire from L2 on the Izymo to the brown wire from the motor
- Then connect the blue wire of the motor, the blue wire of the power cord and the blue wire of N on the Izymo. All three are connected together on 1 clamp.
- Now take brown from the power wire and connect this to the brown wire L on the Izymo.
- Finally, connect the green/yellow earth wires of the motor and the power wire (if the latter has an earth wire).
You can now test the operation by powering on the system and then pressing the program button on the receiver (PRG). The motor will then run.
Press the PRG button again to stop it. If you want the motor to turn in the other direction as well, press the PRG button again to do so.
A last press on PRG will stop the motor again and then you know that everything is working fine.
