Somfy have announced compatibility with Apple Homekit, which allows you to control Somfy products directly through Apple.

You can watch the video below to see the whole story or continue to read below the video.

So, how does the integration work?

Well, you need a couple of things:

  • the product you want to add needs to be programmed and working
  • the product you want to control through the app, needs to be linked to Tahoma

So a Tahoma (Switch) is needed as a bridge between Apple Homekit and the Somfy products you want to control.

You'd think that you'd then be able to control any Somfy product, but that's not the case.

RTS products can not be controlled and only some IO products are compatible.

Compatibility list for Apple Homekit and Somfy

Below, you can find the complete list of compatible products. Any product that is not in the list, is incompatible and can not directly be accessed from the Homekit app:

  • RS100 IO
  • RS100 IO Hybrid
  • Oximo IO
  • Ilmo IO
  • Maestria IO
  • Sunilus Screen IO
  • Sunea screen IO
  • J4 IO
  • EVB Slim receiver IO
  • Sunilus IO
  • Sunea IO
  • Pergola IO
  • Pergola screen IO

Tahoma Scenarios not accessible in Apple Homekit

You can make your own scenarios in Tahoma.

Scenarios are events that are executed on the basis of an input, which can be a certain time, the input of a sensor or a manual input, such as the press of a button on the Tahoma Switch.

These scenarios make your life easier and most often work on a sensor input or at a certain time (sun rise for example).

Triggering them manually from Apple homekit is not an option however.

This means that if you want to trigger a scenario manually, you either need to go to the Tahoma app or press a button on a Tahoma or on a scenario player.
